Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of a complete system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that originated in China 2,000 to 5,000 years ago. Outside of China, TCM has been practiced for about 200 years.

The fundamental principles of acupuncture are to treat the person as an integrated whole in body, mind, and spirit – everything is connected! One of the strengths of TCM is its focus on pattern based medicine that treats the root cause of illness and disease, not just the symptoms. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) acupuncture is an effective treatment for the following conditions:

• Addictions

• Arthritis

• Back Pain

• Carpal Tunnel

• Chemotherapy Nausea

• Depression

• Digestive Problems (ulcers, nausea, gastritis, IBS)

• Ear Problems( ringing, earaches)

• Fibromyalgia

• Headaches

• Infections, cold, flu

• Insomnia

• Menstrual & Female Disorders

• Muscle/Joint Pain (tendonitis, bursitis, sprains)

• Post-operative Pain/Dental Pain

• Sinusitis

• Skin Disorders

Acupuncture needles are metallic, solid, and hair-thin. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Some people are energized by treatment, while others feel relaxed. Treatment may take place over a few days or for several weeks or more. Acupuncture performed by a skilled and qualified practitioner is safe, comfortable and highly effective for many conditions.
